Charity details

Parkinson's UK (Parkinson's Disease Society Of The United Kingdom)

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.

People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died.

There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition.

Our researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.

Mr Chris Shinner

Our condolences to Marian and the family. Brian was a valued member of London Forest Choir (and a part rep) for many years. He has been much missed since he stopped coming to choir and had shown great resilience in the face of the impact of Parkinson's on him. We were so pleased to be able to sing at his funeral and give him a proper choral send-off! Best wishes, Gillian and Tony
