Project 21 is a charity with a difference, running innovative activities, clubs and events for people with Down’s Syndrome in the East of England.
Down’s Syndrome (also known as Trisomy 21) is a genetic condition where a third copy of chromosome 21 is present (the inspiration for our name!) Project 21 thinks outside the box and listens to the voices of those with Down’s Syndrome, putting their wishes in to action. We promote independence and confidence at our core, encouraging people with DS to live happy, busy and fulfilled lives.
Currently, we have three branches in Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk. We run weekly Saturday Musical Theatre Groups, half-term and school holiday Dance Workshop days, regular trips to the theatre, Singing Courses in a professional recording studio, group outings to local concerts and many, many other opportunities!
As we grow, we continually raise the profile of the DS Community in their local counties. We use our passion to showcase to the world the beauty of Down’s Syndrome; giving people with DS a voice in a society that often underestimates them.
