Jeffrey John Hazelton
9th July 1944 – 21st March 2023
Jeff passed away at home in Sawbridgeworth with his daughters by his side. Proud, devoted and loving Father to Sarah and Charlotte and Grandfather to Alex, Edward and Thomas he will be greatly missed. Our dogs Skye and Maya will miss his gentleness and rewards from his always treat filled pockets. Sons in law Steve and David will miss sharing a cheeky beer and their best red wine with teasing and laughter or putting the world to rights.
Jeff worked for the NHS for over 47 years during which time he had many volunteering commitments such as chair of the Leventhorpe School PTA. In 1985 he became a Justice of the Peace a responsibility he took with great integrity and dedication, he was a Magistrate for 19 years.
Jeff had a great many hobbies and interests, he was passionate about The Lake District, & Nature, Gardening, Railway Journeys, Classical music, Photography, the Times crosswords and unbeknownst to many he was also a talented artist and poet.
Fiercely independent , proud and principled he could be stubborn but beneath his sometimes stern exterior he was a kind, considerate, generous honest and loving soul.
His family would like to thank all his friends who supported him throughout his life and the carers who filled his final days with kindness and laughter.
Have many fond memories of Jeff (have to say most of them were in The George)! Rest in peace. All our love.
