Hearing Dogs For Deaf People

We train clever dogs to help deaf people.

Hearing dogs bring independence, confidence and companionship.

Our dogs have even saved lives.

We’ve helped thousands of deaf people so far, and we aim to help many more.

Matching a hearing dog and a deaf person is practically an art form.

Our staff and volunteers are really passionate.

We have a free e-newsletter that we send to 14,000 of our friends.

You can help us change even more lives – and it’s really easy.

Mrs Chris Meachin

I met Colin through work over 30 years ago. He was a wonderful man, always chatty and did a huge amount to support the individuals that he trained through his international freight and customs procedures training courses. It has been a privilege to know Colin. Rest in peace. Sharon Hammond

Ms Sharon Hammond

To Delia and Colin’s girls, such a sadness to hear our dear friend and colleague Colin has died. He was a great support to me in my role as Information Technology Coordinator at the Cambridgeshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture. He was a great help as he had such a wide experience in business which he put to good use in communicating so effectively with all of our student disciplines. We became great friends which continued long after I left the college. I’m expecting you to be a great help to St Peter sorting out his database! Though I hope you’ll have time to rest too!

Mr & Mrs Paul Haresnape

Colin will be greatly missed by all his neighbours and many other people.

Mrs Valerie Reavell

Colin had a big effect on our cochlear implant research at the CBU and in showing us his energy and positive attitude to life. I'll remember him carrying in piles of cakes for the Cochlear implant socials that he organised, and revealing his trick for improving concentration which was to remove the transmitting cool. A true gent who will be sorely missed

Dr Bob Carlyon

Colin was a great advocate for all things cochlear implant related and his support will be greatly missed. We shared many events together and his dry and witty sense of humour still continues to make me smile. Thanks for wonderful memories Colin, you are a true gentleman. Yvonne Noon

Mrs Yvonne Noon

Colin will be deeply missed here at CBU, University of Cambridge. Helping with our research and keeping us informed since 2008.

Mr John Deeks

I knew Colin as a fellow member of the British International Freight Association and through employing his great skill as a trainer to educate my own staff. His knowledge was phenomenal and many within the International Logistics sector are beneficiaries of such learning. Above all, Colin was a gentleman, gentle being an operative word, he was kind, considerate, professional, and a sharer of knowledge and wisdom. Many of us will be envious of such a legacy. Colin may you rest in eternal peace.

Mr Clive Broadley

Colin’s working life was dedicated to the business of freight forwarding I have known him for over 20 years. His industry knowledge was legendary and he employed this in the trading services he provided. I am most grateful for his support to me in my role as Director General of BIFA. Apart from that he was a throughly decent person. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Mr Colin Beaumont

With deepest sympathy. Colin was a very nice man.

Mrs Meryl Johnson

I shall always be grateful to Colin for the help he gave my husband Derek Downs in producing the Meadows pensioners' letter each Christmas, after Derek had suffered a stroke. Derek always spoke glowingly of Colin as a person.

Mrs Merrill Downs

Colin was a great source of inspiration to me. Generous with his knowledge and an unfailing advocate for others. Colin kept an eye on so many of us - never allowing us to skip lunch or downplay our contributions to a project. Here's to you Colin! I was so lucky to know you. May we all learn to channel that little twinkle in your eye and your gentle care for others.

Asst Curate Kathryn Allen
