Mr Clement "Robin" Pocklington

Eulogy 1.JPG

Robin passed peacefully away on 8th November at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow with his beloved daughters Debbie & Nicky at his side.

From the end of August Robin had been suffering with chest infections that antibiotics didn’t clear and he was referred to the respiratory team on the 10th of October, who diagnosed lung cancer. Whilst awaiting the results of a PET scan and biopsy he became weaker despite his family looking after him at home and was admitted to hospital on 27th October as he was struggling to breathe. The medical team was treating him for an infection that they hoped would allow Robin to receive Chemo to treat the cancer and they were surprised how quickly the cancer spread attacking other parts of his body.

Robin was visited by his daughters, son-in-law’s and all his grandchildren over his final weeks and some of his friends got the opportunity to visit him including his priest, Father Garry Neave on the night before he passed and gave him a blessing which was a great comfort to the family.

The staff of Harold ward were very supportive to the family and treated Robin with respect and dignity, especially in his final hours.

Robin is survived by his daughters; Debbie and her husband Lee, Nicky and her husband John and his five grandchildren, Richard, Rachel, Graham and his wife Emily, Kayleigh and her partner Zac & Stuart and his partner Jamie-Lee.

The passing of Robin will leave a massive void in the lives of his family and many friends but is re-united with his beloved wife of 59 years Maureen who passed away in July 2022. Since her passing Robin has had many adventures with his family crossing off numerous items on his bucket list.

Robin had spent over 24 years in the RAF having joined as a boy entrant and was an active member of the local RAFA serving as their welfare officer for numerous years. In his memory any money raised will be split between the RAF’s benevolent fund and HelpForHeroes who provided valuable support to him in 2023 whilst waiting for and following back surgery for spinal stenosis.

Help For Heroes

In 2007, Bryn and Emma Parry co-founded the Charity Help for Heroes. They set themselves one objective, to help those who have put their lives on the line in our Armed Forces.

More than ten years later and Help for Heroes is an internationally recognised charity that has been able to help over 22,000 people. 12 years on, we want to reflect and feel prouder than ever about all that we have achieved together whilst being mindful that we still have a job to do. That is why this year we are asking all of our supporters, fundraisers, donors, volunteers, and partners to unite to form The Force for Good. We believe that together we can empower those who need us most and help them to regain their sense of purpose and have a positive impact on society.
