The home then provides a temporary refuge for these animals, where they are assessed, treated by vets, cared and nursed by staff and volunteers and then the vast majority are rehomed.
Friends of Felines is a dedicated group of volunteers who protect and improve the lives of cats by rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming. We are based in Essex but also work in the Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and London areas.
We believe every cat deserves a chance, and help abandoned, stray, neglected, injured and feral cats. We are able to undertake trap, neuter and return programmes (TNR) to manage feral colonies, and socialise feral kittens and shy cats. We pride ourselves on never turning a cat in need away and having a strict no euthanasia policy for healthy cats. We do not test cats for FiV as we do not see it as a problem for cats who test positive.
We are lucky to be supported by two local veterinary surgeries who go over and above to ensure the cats and kittens in our care receive the medical help that they require. Our cats are matched to their new owners, and homes checked before they leave our care. They are neutered, microchipped, flea treated and wormed, and kittens are rehomed with an agreement and a deposit which is repaid when they are neutered.
We are a not for profit organisation and all donations go towards caring for the cats and kittens in need of our support. This includes, but is not limited to, our vet bills, food and litter. Your donation makes a difference and we really do appreciate it. We couldn’t do what we do without your support.
Pussycat Lodge (PCL) was established over 25 years ago and has since been a focal point for a local group of hard working and dedicated volunteers. We rescue cats primarily across the Brentwood, Basildon, Castle Point, and Chelmsford Boroughs in South Essex. Emergency cases from surrounding areas are dependant on circumstances and available rescue space. We rehome to any area as long as our criteria is met! Our main rescue centre in Brentwood has several purpose built pens to cater for the many needy cats and kittens passing through our doors. Outside is a specially built feral house for the semi-wild cats who can't quite face coming indoors.
It costs over £8,000 a month to keep Pussycat Lodge running. We rely purely on donations and money raised from our fundraising events. We simply couldn't survive without the generosity of those who donate and support us.
