The League of Friends was started by the local community of Epping and area – and that emphasis is still vital in the Hospital. The new building – on the site of the old Epping workhouse – is a sleek and modern centre for health care in the area.

As well as the in-patient wards for elderly and neurological patients, there is a Rapid Assessment Unit and many, many clinics and departments, serving out-patients within the building and in their own homes.
