Missio

The Association for the Propagation of the Faith (APF) assists every one of the Catholic Church’s 1,069 mission dioceses in providing pastoral care and preaching the Gospel effectively.

It was founded in 1822 by Pauline-Marie Jaricot (right), a young woman in Lyons, France. She persuaded local working people to give a farthing a week in support of overseas mission. A century later, the organisation was established in almost every country in the world. Pope Pius XI made it the official mission-funding society for the Catholic Church

Messages of condolence

I’m loving memory of Cathy ,who worked tirelessly and unassumedly to promote the work of missio in our parish ,she will be greatly missed . May she rest in peace .

Mrs Monica Maycraft

It is hard to believe that Cathy is no longer with us she was a truly remarkable person and I was so lucky to have her as a friend and I will carry her spirit of kindness with me always

Mrs Annette Kelly

In Loving Memory of Catherine My heart is with all those who are grieving the loss of Catherine. She leaves behind a space that no one else could ever fill. To me, Catherine was more than just a friend — she was a light in every room, someone who genuinely cared for others with a quiet strength and unwavering kindness. She always put others before herself, giving so much of her time and love through her work with the church, the Brownies, and the Guides. Catherine had a rare gift for seeing the best in people, encouraging them, and helping them grow. She touched so many lives — including mine — in ways that words can hardly capture. Her legacy of love, service, and joy will continue to live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing her. I will miss her deeply, but I will carry her spirit with me always. Edwina xx

Mrs Edwina Elsey

To the Daly Family, Our sincere condolences for you loss. Catherine was such a kind hearted lady, who looked over Imogen for many years, within the Brownies and Guides groups. She has helped create so many fantastic memories for many children over the years and will be remembered as the caring and lovely lady she was. All our Love, The Richards family

Mr & Mrs Jenny Richards

Cathy, thank you for being so kind and supportive to both my girls Holly & Abigail when they were Girl Guides with you. But particularly Holly who you encountered always and made a Ranger when you didn’t have too. You were an amazing advocate and supporter of young girls and women. You will have a long legacy in those you helped, nurtured and encouraged. Rest in peace. Nicola.
