The home then provides a temporary refuge for these animals, where they are assessed, treated by vets, cared and nursed by staff and volunteers and then the vast majority are rehomed.

Elizabeth and I bonded over a deep love of animals, it was fun listening to her stories on my visits to help with her special doggy companion Ellie. It was clear she was a very proud woman who has lead a hard working, interesting life. I will remember her fondly and thank her kindly for the generosity, enthusiasm and encouragement she showed my children.

Dear Elizabeth - I will miss your tall tales of your adventures in life. You were an enterprising woman - running pubs and taxi driving in an age where women didn't often do those things. You loved all your precious animals so much - dogs, horses and sheep and I am very happy to donate to your chosen charity. We will miss you xxxxx
