Mr John West

John WEST - Donations Page Photo1.jpg

"When John was first diagnosed with Parkinson's, he was told he had already had it for around 10 years previous to his diagnosis. Unfortunately, Parkinson's is a progressive neurological disease which causes problems with the brain and mobility over time.          This was especially difficult for John, who in his younger years was an avid footballer and then a golfer in his later retirement years, as he suffered from tremors, pain, mobility issues amongst others and was unable to continue an active life. Despite this, he continued his daily battle with Parkinson's in good spirits and rarely complained.  He received great help and support from Parkinson's UK throughout his struggle and he really wanted to help them find a cure for others in the future. If you would like to help his family honour his wishes please donate and leave a message. Thank you very much."

Charity details

Parkinson's UK (Parkinson's Disease Society Of The United Kingdom)

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.

People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died.

There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition.

Our researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.
