St John the Evangelist

The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist is a typical example of a small Essex Victorian Church. Built to a pseudo-Norman design, the church seats about 100 people and has a small ‘open’ churchyard which is given over to nature. Burials rarely number more than two a year here.

The parish is situated on the outskirts of Hatfield Forest, a true example of a medieval hunting forest now owned by the National Trust and extending to about 1000 acres.

St John’s welcomes and is appreciated by many visitors from Hatfield Forest as evidenced by their comments in the visitors book.

It is said that the population of wild deer in the parish exceeds parishioners of the humankind.

Parkinson's UK (Parkinson's Disease Society Of The United Kingdom)

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.

People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died.

There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition.

Our researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.
