Mr & Mrs Mark and Cornelia Stroud

Des, you taught so much more than karate, you taught self belief, you built us up. Your energy and humour could light up a room and you tried your best to always do that so that no one else would feel the darkness. You never liked compliments either so I can just imagine you reading all these messages and laughing and no doubt your reply would have been what you always said, “but I’m just a dick” 😂😂 but you never could pull that off, we knew you could and often did out smart us all! Wherever your soul is resting now I hope you’ve found peace and can feel the love that we all have for you. I’m not saying goodbye, just I’ll see you again one day and now I best get back to where I belong, in the kitchen isn’t it cos I’m a woman! Love and miss you Des xx

Ms Kirstie Billingham

Our Sensei Des, It's still difficult to think that you're not going to be around anymore. You helped so many people, for which we will all be eternally grateful. You weren't just our Sensei – you were our friend too. Your sense of humour brought so much joy, and your encouragement for everyone to achieve their goals was truly inspirational. If only you could have seen just how much you were loved by us all. Sleep tight now, Sensei, knowing that you will never be forgotten. With all our love to your family, from everyone at Kazen Kai Harlow. x

Mrs M Smith

You were such a brilliant guy, awesome karate, great jokes, you remembered so many random factoids I couldn't list half of them All the while being the dumbest genius I ever knew, always so clumsy stunning your toe or wacking your head , I'm really going to miss you and your stupid comments. You were a best friend, Sensei and so many things I'm gonna miss you

Mr Mateusz Zygadlo

I’m saddened to hear of your passing. Thank you for everything you taught me, both in training and through the conversations we had over the years. I always appreciated your time, your guidance, and the respect you showed to everyone around you. You made a real difference to a lot of people and won’t be forgotten. Rest in peace, sensei. My thoughts are with your family, friends, and everyone who knew you.

Mr Daniel Morris

So sad to hear that Des is no longer with us. There are no words to express how much he meant to us and it was a privilege to know him. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his wonderfully weird sense of humour, and the stories he loved to share. He brought laughter and warmth wherever he went, and he will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, Des. You will never be forgotten. Lots of love, Arjan, Indy and Hardip.
