For those that knew Peter, he had been a practising Buddhist for 57 years, and he himself having taught hundreds of people to meditate and led a meditation / buddhist centre in the heart of Harlow, for over two decades.
In that spirit, rather than flowers at the funeral, the family would invite people, who wish to remember Peter, to donate to ‘The English Sangha Trust’ (https://amaravati.org/support/est/).
The spiritual community at the monasteries is entirely supported by donations (dana), and this generosity supports those committed to, or wishing to develop, a spiritual life.
Peter spent much time at the Buddhist monasteries led by his spiritual teacher, Ajahn Sumedho, in West Sussex and Hertfordshire, and was instrumental in developing the Hertfordshire monastery’s (Amaravati Buddhist Monastery - https://amaravati.org/) 20-year plan. Something Peter was incredibly proud of.
You are most welcome to join the family for refreshments at The Willows, 3 Brookfields, Sawbridgeworth, CM21 0EJ after the service.
