Parkinson's Disease Society Of The United Kingdom

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.

People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died.

There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition.

Our researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.

I may have only known Don a short while as a neighbour, but it was soon clear to me that Don was a lovely caring man with a dry sense of humour and a wonderful family man. He was a man with great talent with his singing and he always encouraged others to join him in a rendition or two whenever he could. RIP Don.
