The Imperial War Museum Development Trust
IWM (Imperial War Museums) tells the story of people who have lived, fought and died in conflicts involving Britain and the Commonwealth since the First World War.
Our family of five museums in London, Manchester and Duxford are home to millions of individual items; photographs, negatives and transparencies; three dimensional objects, like uniforms, medals, firearms, and hundreds of larger objects like aircraft and vehicles.
Our collection features thousands of hours of historical sound recordings, film, books, maps, ephemera, posters, proclamations and publicity leaflets, unpublished diaries, letters and memoirs.
Our exceptional art collection is one of the most important representations of twentieth century British art in the world.
Using this rich and varied material we create vivid personal stories that, whilst sometimes challenging, are told with authority and empathy. Through our dynamic exhibitions, and learning and public engagement programmes, we help shape an understanding of the causes, course and consequences of war for 21st century audiences.
By supporting IWM you will ensure that people’s stories are heard and never forgotten.
